A seminar for Multimedia graduate students of Hong Kong University
Seminar Title: Creative Destruction
My talk to Multimedia graduate students at the Cyberport campus of The University of
Hong Kong discussed the background of how we started out as 2 musicians, with no
business or multimedia knowledge, without any connections, generated over
US$2,400,000 business, mostly multimedia related, within the community of
Cyberport in our first year of business there.
The seminar revealed how it all began with my complaint to the government of Hong
Kong about their Cyberport project and ended up with an award of US$125,000 to
shoot a 30 seconds promotional video for them . From some of the difficulties we
overcame, to all the mistakes we made along the way.
The topics in my talk, “Creative Destruction & The Chaos System”, “Cultural Lock-in”,
“Convergent & Divergent Thinking” and “Paradox” are insights from my attempt to
analyse what had actually happened.
Was it simply luck, or was it something
more than that? And could it be
duplicated or continued? Why?
There is more to life than
increasing its speed.
